OOPS!

Yesterday I wrote about three fourths of a post about anachronisms in movies and in novels, such as the soldier who is seen wearing a modern watch in a Civil War movie. I don't look out for such goofs, but they manage to jump out at me.

The reason I chose this theme for the blog post was because I thought I had goofed in referring to the writing on Aethelreda's crown as "runes". I even did some more research on the kinds of "writing" done by Celts in Britain, and the later Anglo Saxons, to be absolutely sure. The Celts in Britain used a language called "Ogham" which was different from the better known "runes". (BTW, don't trust the AI summaries that Google provides. Sometimes they are nonsense.) And then somewhere in the deep part of my brain an alarm went off and I realized I had not written about runes in "Bound by an Oath", but in the as yet unnamed sequel!

I really do spend a lot of time embedded in the fifth century! Perhaps too much time. But the good news is that since it is the unfinished sequel, I can correct my mistake before it is published and not humiliate myself.

Obviously, I ditched that blog post and started again. Consequently, this will probably be a short piece!

I am about halfway through the sequel to "Bound by an Oath" by word count, and I have the plot mostly worked out. But as I was thinking about my progress, I realized that the sequel is not a love story, at least, not as I have written it, so far. It's really a straightforward historical novel/adventure story. There's nothing wrong with that I suppose but I wondered how my readers will react. And one thought led to another, and I wondered if my readers had any ideas about what they would hope to find in a sequel? I decided it would be fun to find out.

I have set the sequel to continue directly on from where "Bound by an Oath" left off. The main characters continue. Some new characters will be introduced, but I'm trying not to have a cast of thousands, this time around.

So, if you have any questions that you want answered about the first novel, or any suggestions about what will happen in the lives of the Cantii, now that Paulos has passed away, I'd LOVE to hear them.

This is a test to see how hard/easy it is to comment on these blog posts. Not hard at all, but it isn't clear where this will be posted - under the post I just read, I presume.
